The challenges faced by UK energy policy makers

Over the last decade or so, the UK government has had numerous attempts to square the circle of setting energy policy while also trying to accommodate its desire to leave matters to the market. These have ranged from hiving off a share of the market for renewable power generators to the more extreme measure of imposing a moratorium on new gas-fired power stations. In this podcast Platts Dr Dominic Maclaine asks Malcolm Keay from the Oxford Institute of Energy Studies to offer his insight into the challenges faced by UK energy policy makers.
